Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau has made an announcement that the world-famous Anna Tebunskaya of “Dancing With The Stars” will be the Grand Marshal for the 22nd Annual Hermosa Beach Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. Ms. Tebunskaya will lead the parade, which will begin on Saturday, March 12, at 11:00 a.m., through Hermosa Beach to celebrate the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day with fun for all ages.
Anna vaulted to public fame with her turn as a dance instructor beginning with the 2006 season of “Dancing With the Stars.” She is currently the owner of You Can Dance ballroom dancing studio, which she operates with her mother, Irina, in Hermosa Beach. Anna expressed joy at being chosen for the honor of Grand Marshal. “I’m super excited about the parade!” she noted. “It’s wonderful to have an opportunity to get all the Hermosa Beach community together, and for me to represent You Can Dance studio in this St Patrick’s Parade”.
Ms. Tebunskaya is a native of Russia, where she began her dancing career at the early age of 6, participating in exercises at her parents’ dance studio. She quickly became proficient and won her first dance competition at the age of 7. Upon reaching the age of 17, Anna moved to New York City where she quickly won the USA Amateur Youth Standard Championships in 1998. In 2000, she moved to California where she continued dancing competitively.
Anna is best known for her performance for 11 seasons on “Dancing With the Stars,” although she has also danced in live stage ensembles and productions. Two of her most popular productions are “Forever Tango” and “Dancing with a Twist.” Anna is also the host of Hermosa Beach’s own “Hot Ballroom Night,” a competitive event that premiered last fall.
Anna has been the winner of numerous dancing awards and has been featured in many publications, including People, InTouch, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, US Weekly, Shape, and Runway.
Joining her in this year’s St. Patrick’s Parade is KTLA’s meteorologist and traffic reporter, Vera Jimenez. She will be at the grandstand located on Pier Plaza. This year’s parade is sponsored by Athens Services, Chevron and Kinecta Credit Union and will feature more than 100 local organizations, marching bands and businesses. The parade will wind down Pier Avenue and feature bagpipers and other Irish thematic elements from the Emerald Society and Irish Setters Club of Southern California. The parade starts at City Hall on Valley Drive and ends at Hermosa Avenue and 10th Street. More than 15,000 spectators are expected. March 19th will be kept as a rain date in case of inclement weather.
Come out and enjoy the great St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Hermosa Beach!
